Description

LocalTube is an enhanced, self-hosted streaming server solution built on top of a specialized fork of NewPipe Extractor. By bundling a lightweight and concurrent Java HTTP server inside an Android application, LocalTube enables you to browse, search, and stream content from major streaming platforms directly from any device in your local network using a standard web browser.

Key Features:
- Decentralized Local Server: Runs a lightweight, concurrent Java HTTP server directly on your Android device (default port 8080), serving a modern, responsive web interface.
- Cross-Device Playback: Connect seamlessly to the server from any device on your local network (PC, laptop, smart TV, tablet) by visiting your device's local IP.
- Video.js Media Player: High-performance HTML5 player using Video.js for quality switching, adaptive playback speed, gesture controls, and smooth seeking.
- Enhanced Gestures & Shortcuts: Double-tap or double-click to seek 10s forward/backward (with chevron ripples), swipe vertically to adjust volume (with volume HUD), and use keyboard/remote D-pad shortcuts (Space, J, L, M, Arrows).
- Autoplay Queue: Seamless "Up Next" autoplay timer countdown at the end of video playback with Cancel and Play Now actions.
- Picture-in-Picture & Subtitles: Native floating Picture-in-Picture window support, and fully fixed WebVTT captions/subtitles rendering.
- Remote Playback Control: Remotely control other active clients on your network (play, pause, fast-forward, rewind) from the web interface.
- Database Backup Import/Export: Back up and restore your settings and SQLite watch history as JSON files.
- YouTube Interests & Subscriptions Importer: Log in securely via WebView to scrape and import subscription lists, as well as personalize followed interest keywords using unique homepage recommendation tags.
- Dedicated Reels Player Integration: Open YouTube Reels directly in a specialized vertical scrolling Reels player (supporting swipe controls) from your Watch Later, History, or Search feeds.
- Custom Quality Preferences: Easily manage preferred video streaming resolutions directly inside the client and server settings.
- Theme Customization: Toggle between modern Dark, Light, and Pure Black (OLED) themes with custom accent color palette selection.
- Material 3 User Interface: Beautifully updated UI with cohesive Material Design 3 tokens, color harmonies, and responsive layouts.
- Private Watch History: Tracks your watched videos locally on the host device using a secure SQLite database, maintaining privacy with zero external telemetry or tracking.
