Fuel price data in France is public, free, and legally mandatory. However, most applications are saturated with ads and trackers at the expense of privacy and accessibility. Access to information is a fundamental right and should not be traded for your privacy.

Ratafuel is a 100% free, open-source application with absolutely zero trackers, zero ads and built to respect user freedom.

PERMISSIONS

Location permissions (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) are used exclusively to show your position locally within the app. Location permissions are optional and can be enabled or disabled by the user at any time, the app will function perfectly without them.

SETUP

1. Launch the application once downloaded.
2. Choose whether or not to use your device's location to find the cheapest price near you.
3. Choose whether or not to enable Automatic Updates. If enabled, the station data will be updated every week at startup.
4. Click the Download button to download stations data locally.
5. You can customize the app in the Parameters section or simply use it as is!

PRIVACY

Ratafuel collects no data. There are no analytics, no ads, no trackers. As stated above, location permissions are used exclusively to show your position locally within the app. No location data is ever collected, stored, or shared.

GOVERNMENT LIMITATIONS

The publication of fuel prices is a legal obligation for fuel distributors, as required by Articles 5 and 6 of the Ministerial Order of 8 July 1988 ¹ .

The Département d'outre-mer are unfortunately not displayed within Ratafuel due to uncomprehensible missing data from the Fuel Price French Government API.

In the DOM, fuel prices are regulated every month by prefects setting a maximum price via prefectural decrees, in accordance with Articles R671-1 to R671-31 of the French Energy Code ² .
Without any further justification and without any apparent technical problem, these data are not added to the public database of fuel prices.

Under Article 73 of the Constitution ³, regulations are applicable as of right in these departments, unless expressly derogated. No identifiable derogating provision seems to exclude the DOM from this publication.

Due to a lack of reliable data, the DOM are unfortunately not supported for now.
